PLACE!
Happy this is happening but many might wonder
Why?....Well, art can make the world make sense........
This exhibition has been made while considering belonging, comfort in your own identity and enabling yourself to feel psychological safety in a complex world.
Rebecca will be curating this small exhibition of her work with simplicity and a limited time scale ('so I do hope it's ready'). It has given her the opportunity to reflect on what is important to her reason for creating art and being an artist. Through her own identity as a woman, mother and career wannabe who has experienced childhood to adulthood before phone domination. This has meant that she has also had to adapt to this speed of change at the same time as becoming a parent and working as a small artist.
'Social media can make us get drawn into a world of mixed messages and lack of coherence as to our own priorities, I have felt a deep sense of loss over this time. We have to work hard to establish our personal boundaries, work, family and friendships in order to contribute to a societal expectations across generations and retain a sense of well being. I sometimes feel my generation's voice got ignored in the noise, and now as I'm entering my next decade I'm quietly returning to my own sense of understanding of the world, from my educational values growing up and my understanding of what art, expression and the arts is to me. The world without artists would be a very sorry place.......'
